Zelensky Accuses Putin of ‘Terrorism’ After Deadly Strike on Civilian Train
Ukraine-Russia War: Zelensky Brands Passenger Train Strike an “Act of Terrorism”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of committing an “act of terrorism” after a drone attack on a civilian passenger train killed at least five people.
Speaking after the strike, Zelensky said there was no military justification for targeting civilians, stressing that any attack on a civilian train would be considered terrorism in any country. According to him, 18 passengers were inside the carriage that was hit, while more than 200 people were on board the train overall.
The attack comes just hours after US President Donald Trump claimed that “very good things” were happening in ongoing efforts to secure peace in Ukraine, with US-backed negotiations scheduled to resume on Sunday.
Trump’s remarks followed trilateral talks held in Abu Dhabi over the weekend, which Zelensky described as “constructive.”
Meanwhile, a source familiar with internal discussions told Reuters that the United States has informed Ukraine it must agree to a peace deal with Russia in order to receive US security guarantees.
