MBS Reaffirms Saudi Neutrality in Call With Iran’s President
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian that the Kingdom will not permit its airspace or territory to be used for any military action against Iran.
The message came during a phone call on Tuesday, initiated by the Iranian president, in which both leaders discussed recent developments inside Iran as well as the status of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear program.
The call comes amid heightened regional tensions, with the United States warning of possible military action against Iran following its violent crackdown on nationwide anti-government protests. Washington has also moved additional military assets, including an aircraft carrier, into the region.
According to a readout of the call, the Crown Prince reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to respecting Iran’s sovereignty and emphasized that the Kingdom would not allow any party to use its land or airspace to carry out attacks against Iran, regardless of the source or destination.
