Dhaka-Karachi Direct Flights Take Off After 14 Years
After a 14-year break, direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi are back in the skies. Biman Bangladesh Airlines inaugurated flight BG341 on Thursday, departing Dhaka at 8 PM and landing in Karachi at 11 PM, covering the route in just three hours.
The airline will operate two weekly flights, marking the first regular service since 2012. Airline manager Bosra Islam confirmed, “We are relaunching the Karachi-Dhaka route with two weekly flights.”
This move strengthens ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, historically linked as one nation before the 1971 split. Biman Bangladesh Airlines highlighted that the route will enhance business, tourism, and family travel, reducing reliance on Gulf hubs like Dubai and Doha.
The revival of direct air links follows increased trade and cultural exchanges, including cargo shipments from Karachi to Chittagong since November 2024, Pakistani singers performing in Dhaka, and Bangladeshi patients traveling to Pakistan for medical care.
